A staple food of the Aztec civilisation, Amaranth is a naturally gluten-free grain with a nutty, slightly sweet flavour. Its impressive nutritional profile (protein-rich, packed with antioxidants, and a great source of Vitamin C!) make it an excellent choice for use in recipes. Amaranth has been linked to improved immunity, a lowered risk of heart disease, higher collagen production levels, and better digestion.
Made from the seed of the cacao tree, chocolate is one of the best sources of antioxidants. Raw chocolate (or high quality dark chocolate) is highly nutritious, packed with minerals, fibre, and essential micronutrients. Apart from elevating the mood, moderate consumption of dark chocolate has also been linked to better heart health and improved blood flow.
